MICHAEL KORS（マイケル・コース）が、飢餓撲滅を目指すキャンペーン「Watch Hunger Stop（ウォッチ・ハンガー・ストップ）」の2026年スペシャルエディション トートバッグを発売。アーティストのクリスティーナ・ジンペルが手がけたカラフルなイラストが目を引く一品だ。
あわせて、国連世界食糧計画（WFP）とともにスリランカで進めてきた学校給食支援の成果も発表。新作バッグと、その背景にある取り組みを紹介する。

2026 スペシャルエディション
トートバッグのイラストを手がけたクリスティーナ・ジンペルは、デザイナーのマイケル・コースの友人でもあるアーティスト。2019年春のランウェイコレクションや、2026年春の「マイケル マイケル・コース」のカプセルコレクションに続いて、今回で3度目のコラボレーションとなる。
デザイナーのマイケル・コースは、彼女の作品を初めて目にしたときから、その明るさや喜びあふれる世界観に心惹かれたとコメント。また、作品にはその土地ならではの空気感が色濃く宿り、見る人を瞬時にその世界へと誘ってくれる魅力があると語っている。
今回のトートバッグにも、そんな彼女らしい鮮やかな色使いを採用。イラストには、WFPの学校給食プログラムがもたらす希望と、前向きな未来への思いが込められている。
トートバッグの販売利益は全額寄付
子どもたちの学校給食を支援

寄付金は、マイケル・コースが支援する「Home-Grown School Feeding（地産地消型学校給食プログラム）」の活動に役立てられる。地域の農家、特に女性農家を支援しながら、地元産の食材を使った学校給食を子どもたちに届ける取り組みだ。
Wasana Lakmali Rathnayake is a school meal provider from Athungama in Thirappane and a mother of two. For the past two years, she has been preparing and serving meals to children at Ethungama Gamunu Maha Vidyalaya, many of whom come from vulnerable and low income households.
Through support from the World Food Programme (WFP) through Michael Kors funds, Wasana received a package of livelihood assistance that included a chicken coop, 55 chicks, training from veterinary officers, animal feed and medicines, as well as equipment for a home garden irrigation system. Using these resources, she established a poultry operation and expanded her home garden, producing vegetables and eggs that help supply nutritious meals for schoolchildren while also supporting her own family’s food security and income.
The additional income generated from her agriculture and poultry activities, combined with her school meal work, allows her to save approximately LKR 25,000 per month, which she invests in her children’s education and daily needs. Wasana says the support has strengthened her family’s economic resilience while enabling her to provide fresh, nutritious food to students who often rely on the school meal as an important part of their daily nutrition.
As both a caregiver and an entrepreneur, Wasana represents how integrated school feeding and livelihood support can create benefits beyond the classroom, improving children’s access to nutritious meals while empowering local women and families to build sustainable livelihoods and invest in their children’s futures.

• 260,000+ children receive nutritious school meals every day.
• 1,500 smallholder farmers are being supported with agricultural and poultry inputs to supply eggs, fruits, and vegetables for school meals.
• The programme strengthens local food systems by connecting schools with local farmers and caterers.
• It empowers women, as most school meal caterers are mothers from low-income communities, creating livelihood opportunities and increasing household income.
Clean Energy for School Meals initiative
WFP is also making school meals greener and safer by introducing solar-powered, energy-efficient electric pressure cookers in schools across the Northern Province.
• Reduces reliance on firewood and other polluting fuels.
• Improves food safety, hygiene, and cooking efficiency.
• Supports climate action while ensuring nutritious meals are prepared in a cleaner and more sustainable way.
また、8つの地区で1,500人の地元農家や学校給食事業者を対象に、野菜や卵の供給量を増やすための支援や必要な道具を提供。その結果、25万人の児童に栄養価の高い学校給食を提供できる体制が整った。
今後1年間では、さらに2つの地区の農家や学校給食事業者への資金援助も予定している。
こうした取り組みにより、2027年末までにWFPがスリランカで提供する、地元産食材を用いた学校給食は累計1,600万食以上に達する見込みだ。

現地の女性たちにも変化が
この活動は、子どもたちへの食事の提供だけでなく、地域で暮らす女性たちの仕事や収入にもつながっている。
スリランカ北部州のキリノッチ地区では、学校給食を提供するナガラジャ・ティラゲスワリ（Nagaraja Thilageswari）さんが、WFPを通じて提供された給水ポンプ、灌漑設備、種子を使って新鮮な野菜を栽培。現在、毎日300人以上の子どもたちに食事を届けている。
かつては専業主婦だったティラゲスワリさんだが、今では自身の農場を経営し、家禽を飼育。他の女性や農業従事者を雇用するまでになった。
Indrani Kusumalatha has been serving as a school meal caterer at Mahameegaswewa Primary School in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka for the past nine years, providing daily meals for 40 children. Her workday begins at 4:30 a.m., when she prepares nutritious meals that typically include rice, dhal, vegetables, leafy greens, protein, and fruit before delivering them to the school by 7:00 a.m.
Through support from the World Food Programme (WFP) with funding from Michael Kors, Indrani received resources to establish a home garden and poultry farm, including chicks, feed, irrigation equipment, gardening tools, fencing materials, and a water tank. This assistance has enabled her to generate additional income, strengthen her household’s economic stability, and maintain sustainable food production activities.
Indrani views her role as more than a job, describing it as an opportunity to care for children as she would her own family.

一方、アヌラーダプラ地区のインドラニ・クスマラタ（Indrani Kusumalatha）さんは、WFPからひな鳥や飼料、灌漑設備、園芸用具、フェンスなどの支援を受け、養鶏場と家庭菜園を立ち上げた。現在は家族を支える安定した収入を得ながら、マハ・ミーガスウェワの学校で40人の子どもたちの食事を用意している。
クスマラタさんは、その仕事について次のように語る。
「これを単なる仕事だと思ったことは一度もありません。私にとっては、自分の子供たちのために愛情を込めて食事を作ることと同じように感じています」
デザイナーのマイケル・コースが語る、国連WFPと協働する理由
今回の成果について、マイケル・コースは次のようにコメントしている。
「WFPとともに取り組んできた活動の成果と、それがスリランカの多くの女性や子どもたちの生活に与えてきた、そしてこれからも与え続けるであろう影響を目の当たりにできることは、本当に素晴らしいことです。私は、自ら現場に関わり、解決策を見出すことを重視する人間です。それが、私がWFPとの協働を望む理由の一つです。WFPには現場で活動する人々がいて、必要とされていることを理解し、持続的な変化を生み出すために必要な基盤づくりに真摯に取り組んでいるのです」
